Default Unable to Sync Email And Contacts with z-push however Cals can

Hi Folks,

I have just now set up z-push on separate server and are able to sync the Calendar entry for account however i am not able to see any emails neither any contacts created on either i.e on Zimbra webmail neither on Android. At the same time I can sync the Folder created under different folders but again unable to see any emails under that folder.

Any clue why? I have Android 2.2 and have configured Exchange ActiveSync account.

What are you seeing in the debug log file?

Lines beginning with "I" indicate incoming requests to the server from the phone
Lines beginning with "O" indicate outgoing responses to the phone from the server
Other lines are application debug lines.

What are you seeing in your Apache log files? Any errors? And connection attempts?

FYI: I never had a phone with an android version as low as 2.2 so it has not been tested with that release. First one tested was 2.2.1 which worked.

Well I don't see any such logs starting from I or O, I see huge chunk of entries in debug.txt and not sure where to look for the error. Here are few entries which I suspect issue could be.

Well, I tried whatever I can to rectify the issue but it still persists and I am not able to sync the mails and Contact vice-versa however calendar can easily be pushed. Do yo think that can be version incompatibility then question arises why the cals are getting synched and why not emails and contacts?

The default setting when you set up a phone is to sync the last 3 days. You need to go and change that if you want more than 3 days.

#1 did you accept security warning ioni android (zpush need the right to wipe your phone - dont worry it wont until you do via webinterface)

do you get a security warning? (its often onyl for an blink of an eye on the bottom of your droid)

If it stays that way please setup an imap account make the same settings as you got in exchange (days/size etc) and look if you see something in
if yes but activesync still dont work do the following:

delete the activesync/Exchange account
go in settings/applications/manage

look for the mailstorgae prover - go in delete data
same you do with the calendar and adressbook (make a backup of everything bevore please)

next one get "cache cleaner ng"
wipe the hole cache

turn the phone off
remove battery

start it agian and add the exchange account again - see if its working

android - special 2.2 got many activesync issues
which device exactly do you have / which firmware / kernel version?

or if you can best way update to 2.3.4 or 2.3.5
both work incredible now with active sync - with zpush and oss its everything instant there - perfectly

if you dont get updates by your phoneprovider google for "xda developers"
there you can get a lot of nice builds/stockfirmwares and updates you often dont get by your regular update software

believe me you need an update - we got now about 35 androids running in test/half production - it was a real pain for a while /tablets/phones/....

(really we need caldav working on droid to finally drop active sync - sorry liverpool nothing against your backend its working well - its just activesync itself thats so troubly

liverpoolfcfan - Even I did try sending few emails and that didn't work however Cal entries are gettgin synched properly but no luck for Mails and Contact.

bofh -: Thats an nice option provided and bad to know that particularity 2.2 is having serious complications with Z-push. However I was trying to upgrade my existing 2.2 Wildfire to 2.3 or 3.0 but not sure if I can do that and posted a query on xda developers. Lets see

And Here are the details requested

Android Version 2.2.1
Kernel Version 2.6.32.21-g6c55e4 htc-kernel@and18-2#1

just for the record.

it does not have issues with z-push it does have issues with active sync protokoll

i know at the bototm line its the same but dont blame zimbra backend from liverpool or z-push for that - those issues are same with microsoft exchange

blame android AND microsoft for it because of that troubly activesync protokoll

about your device - ok i dont use htc but just take a close look on
Wildfire S Android Development - xda-developers
this thread provides with roms you can use and also with tutorials how to do it

however htc do not release so upen as samsung do so you dont get newst androids (sadly)

btw: dont go on 3.0
many people dont know android 3.0 IS NOT a later version of 2.3

its a parallel development tree made for tablets in first place - so its very likly that a 2.3.3 works better then a 3.0 becuase its newer

stick to 2.xx versions until 4.0 comes out (4.0 is next generation for phones and tablets) - try to get hands on 2.3.4 or 2.3.5

hope i could help
