Default AstraSync Truncating Messages

A few of our guy have been having trouble with the astasync connector for blackberrys truncating emails. We haven't seen this issue with any other devices but the blackberrys. We contacted astrasyc about the issue and they are certain that its a problem with our zimbra server. Has anyone heard of this issue?

Thanks

Your other post has been removed because you posted sensitive information in it.

Without some idea of why Astrasync think this is a Zimbra issue it's impossible to give you any sensible answer, what exactly was the reason they gave for it being a server problem?

Thanks for the reply. Below is the email that I received from astrasync reguarding the truncated message issue.

"Further to this case/issue it actually looks like the problem may be with the Server. I'll explain why below.

When AstraSync requests data from the server, it sets a max limit on how much data should be sent over.

In 4.0.27 and prior, when in HTML mode, AstraSync wasn't sending the parameter to specify the limit. So in those versions the server would send over the whole message. This was okay if the inbox had small messages, but if there was anything 'large' say more than 1MB then it would cause problems.

In 4.0.29 we fixed this bug so we correctly send the request to truncate data when in HTML mode. This parameter is called <mimetruncation>. It appears that the server is actually truncating too much data such that not all the headers are received over in AstraSync. This fix was necessary to ensure the device doesn't crash due to memory errors.

I suggest you talk to your IT admin. If you are the IT admin then you should escalate a case to Zimbra and see what they say."

OK, in that case you should file a bug report in bugzilla and if you're an NE user you need to open a support case and get it attached to the bug report. If you're not on a fairly recent Zimbra version then search bugzilla to see if any similar bug has already been filed.

Please update your forum profile with the output of the following:

Code:
zmcontrol -v

We are running into the same trouble. I will test the latest version of Astrasync but Astrasync seems to blame Zimbra for not honoring their 50kb truncation limit. Does anyone know of a workaround for Zimbra to make or hard code this setting?

Thanks.

We ended up solving the problem by updating ZCS software to 6.0.6. No more truncated messages!

I was waiting for 6.1 before I upgraded the server. Are you happy with 6.06 or has it been buggy at all?

Overall we are pretty happy with 6.0.6. We were running 6.0.2 before and it was real buggy. 6.0.6 seemed to eliminate several complains we recieved while on 6.0.2

Thank you for the feedback. Might have to give it a try.
