I have a Motorola Droid (Android 2.0.1) and the the builtin "Corporate Email" functionality is extremely broken.

Below are a few links related to Android ActiveSync problems.

Issue 5337 - android - 2.0.1 on Motorola Droid Breaks Exchange Calendar/Contact Syncs - Project Hosting on Google Code

Issue 4475 - android - Support for ActiveSync provisioning protocol - Project Hosting on Google Code

Issue 4602 - android - Email app should support Exchange Global Address List - Project Hosting on Google Code

However, there is an app in the Android Market called Touchdown ($20.00) that works flawlessly...including support for tasks and GAL. Touchdown even mentions that Zimbra users should not set the maximum message size higher than 10k.

Hooked one up today.

Setup worked instantly (Point to Zimbra as Microsoft Exchange Activesync server).

Contacts and e-mail worked instantly. SSL with self-signed cert worked instantly. Calendar sync doesn't work.

Oh, that is not good about the calendar sync I am sure I saw something somewhere that the next software release should resolve the problem. Please keep us posted as the technology looks very promising.

Thumbs up

When I set up the Nexus One, it didn't even offer me any calendar sync from Zimbra. It only shows the options for contacts and mail.

I am actually a RIMM shareholder and Blackberry fanboi so we use the BB Connector.

I love the way everything on the BB can be encrypted, down to the MP3 you have on your memory card and the fact that we can remotely manage, disable and wipe the devices if they are lost.

The Nexus One was an impulse buy. I wanted to see what Google have done and I like the way Android is quite an open platform compared with iPhone and BB. I am quite impressed with Android but I hate touchscreens so I can't quite warm up to this device.

Anyway back on topic: I am keeping this Nexus One here for testing. I will subscribe to the various Android bugs in Bugzilla and bookmark this thread.

Did you try to disable zimbraFeatureMobilePolicyEnabled (as suggested in the bug report)?

That seems to be only for the sync client in the Motorola M1, no ?

I'd say it's worth a try 8)

As the calendar app seems to be vendor-specific, I hope it's not gonna be too complex (for Zimbra devs and us admins) to get ZCS work with each Android phone...
