    As far as I know there is no way to tell an Android device not to sync email ?? Or at least there isn't for Samsung.

    Are you using SmartFolders ?

    If you are you can create a top level folder in your Zimbra WebClient called

    *SyncConfig*

    With the stars at the start and end -

    Then within that folder, create another one called

    message&active=false

    If you are not using SmartFolders you can create a user.XML file to disable email. See the notes at the top of the zimbra.php file for information.

    As regards the errors you reported seeing in your later post - you have not given yourself/or your web server the required rights to pull in the include files.

    I am using a user xml file as follows:

    Code:
               <zimbrabackend user="sam">
                 <profile id="" usehtml="true" sendasname="Sam Greco" sendasemail="sam@somedomain.com" timezone="America/Chicago">
                     <message active="false">
                     </message>
                     <contact active="true" virtual="false" >
                         <primary name="Address Book" />
                         <include name="Phone Contacts" recursive="false" />
                     </contact>
                     <appointment active="true" virtual="false">
                         <primary name="Calendar" />
                         <include name="Calendar" />
                     </appointment>
                     <task active="true" virtual="false">
                         <primary name="Tasks" />
                         <include name="Tasks" recursive="false" />
                     </task>
                  </profile>
                </zimbrabackend>
    Shouldn't message active="false" do it?

    Moved Z-Push and Zimbra Backend to my web development server and off of my VPS, since I have more control over it's setup.

    After moving it over, contacts and calendars both sync down from Zimbra to the phone, but the calendar does not sync back from phone to Zimbra.

    The contacts DO sync back up EXCEPT it syncs a new entry continuously. I entered one new contact and on the server saw that contact continued to multiply until I killed the sync. There were about 30 copies at that point.

    Any clues what I should be looking for?

    Check all your folder permissions.

    Usually when an item syncs over and over it is because the web server is not able to update the state files and folders.

    Checked and the folder was not writable. Fixed that but still get the multiple/runaway sync. And still the calendar is one-way sync - from Zimbra to phone.

    Don't know if this will help, but this error keeps repeating itself:

    Code:

    Thanks for all of your help LPF.

    OK - so you can see from the SOAP response that the item that it is failing on is 49180. It is appearing in the list of items in folder 10 - but zimbra does not recognize it as a cntact recrd.

    You need to identify what item 41980 is, and move it or delete it.

    It may also be related to your XML file - I just looked back at it now.

    Code:
                     <contact active="true" virtual="false" >
                         <primary name="Address Book" />
                         <include name="Phone Contacts" recursive="false" />
                     </contact>
    If you set virtual="false" then it will only sync one folder. Setting virtual="true" allows it to virtually include the Contacts from other folders so that to the phone they appear to be in your Primary Folder.

    If your primary folder is "Address Book" and you also want to include "Phone Contacts" then you should have

    Code:
                     <contact active="true" virtual="true" >
                         <primary name="Address Book" />
                         <include name="Address Book" recursive="false" />
                         <include name="Phone Contacts" recursive="false" />
                     </contact>
    Or if you only want "Phone Contacts" to go to the phone, you should have

    Code:
                     <contact active="true" virtual="false" >
                         <primary name="Phone Contacts" />
                         <include name="Phone Contacts" recursive="false" />
                     </contact>

    Thanks again, but I changed the user file to sync with only the Phone Contacts folder and still get the repeating new phone contact. Meaning I have put one new contact on the phone and if I let the sync run I will have dozens of that same contact in my Zimbra folder.

    The error above repeats itself with the number (49180 in the example above) incrementing with each repeat.

    I'm going to try to empty the folder and see what happens. I have already emptied the phone, and that worked fine.

    Seems no matter what I do, I only get sync one way. From Zimbra down. If I try to create a calendar item on my phone, it does not sync up to the Zimbra server. All of the entries in the server however, sync down to the phone.

    Contacts sync down to the phone without issue. Up to Zimbra I get the repeating entry on any new item entered into the phone.
