Heres my new debug.txt (as attachment forum constraints don't permit the log size) , I took this from a clean log after setting up a exchange account on a Ipad 2 with the latest firmware, at the bottom on the log you will see my attempt to send a test mail. the Ipad error after entering mail is "connection to the server failed"
    nothing is syncing at all

I have very limited web access at the moment so I'm sorry I haven't been able to help to date. I am also unable to read your log file from here.

Can you try a test for me.

In the Setup function there is a piece of code that checks for "Nokia" phones and adds a fake Outbox which some Nokia phones need to be able to sync.

I have recently found that Android 2.3.3 also needs this Outbox to appear before it can sync correctly. I wonder if the iPad is the same.

Please comment out the "if" statement, and the opening and closing { } brackets around that block of code so it is always included. Then remove your Exchange account from your iPad and then add it back again.

Report back if it changes anything.

You are not getting those responses from z-push. Those are HTML responses from zimbra.

Unless you specificaly configure zimbra's apache not to listen on port 80 - it already has an alias built in for /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync that points to their own Network Edition ActiveSync implementation.

You need to search the wiki for how to change the port that HTTP is listening on for zimbra. Then, check your apache config to make sure you have the correct alias configured. And, check your config.php to make sure you have the correct URL for the zimbra server.

Better yet would be to use a separate web server entirely.

You should be getting a pure XML response - no HTML - when z-push answers your request.

It will start with <soap:Envelope> I think - but as I am away from my system I cannot tell for sure.

EDIT: I copied this line from a debug.txt attached to a posting somewhere in this thread. It is an example of the format of response you should expect to get.

    Code:

I used the wiki to set zimbra to https only. My Zpush is on a separate server all my configuration is posted in my other postes.

I used The below command to only allow https
    su - zimbra
    zmtlsctl https
    tomcat restart

    I got a strange problem.

I got the Zimbra Backend (build 50) with AS12 to work with Nokia E52 and iPhone, but when it comes to Andriod I'm totally stuck.

The Android device is a Motorola Defy with android 2.2.x-someting and when I check the debug logs it does not have all the request headers.

    .... Snipped ....

Figured it out it was my Apache configuration, it added a trailing "/" after a 301 redirect, e.g. https://sec.somewhere.se/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync 301-to https://sec.somewhere.se/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync/, when the device tried to do an OPTIONS request. The Android were less forgiving than the IPhone and the Nokia on a 301 Redirect.

Fixed it by adding this (if someone stumbles on the same problem):

    Code:
    <Location /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync>
        DirectorySlash Off
    </Location>

Finally back from my travels and was just about to check in with you. Happy to hear you got it figured out.

As a matter of interest - what do you have as your Alias directive in your Apache configuration ?

Sorry for the delayed reply. Just back from vacation travels.

What do you mean when you say "redirects setup and working" ?

The normal Apache configuration for z-push requires an "Alias" directive for ActiveSync in the form of ...

    Code:
         Alias /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync /var/www/html/z-push/index.php
So that all /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync requests get passed to the index.php page of z-push.

Do you have an additional layer of web servers in front of the z-push Apache that is doing some redirect that is trying to send requests directly to the index.php page from somewhere else ?

Please describe the architecture in detail from phone to z-push.

    You mean this one?
    Code:
    Alias /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync /data/somedomain.se/web/secure.somesubdomain.se/z-push/index.php
However, I have a lot of subdomains and a therefore lots of Redirectes and RedirectMatches which screwed up the sync. I don't want to break those so thats why a DirectorySlash Off was my perfect match.

Just o show you why, some snipps from the ssl access log:
    Code:
    #IPHONE - OK
    81.224.251.194 - - [17/Jul/2011:18:15:06 +0200] "OPTIONS /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync HTTP/1.1" 301 347
    81.224.251.194 - johan@somdomain.se [17/Jul/2011:18:15:06 +0200] "OPTIONS /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync/ HTTP/1.1" 200 -

    #ANDROID - NOK
    90.232.232.10 - - [19/Jul/2011:15:57:32 +0200] "OPTIONS /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync HTTP/1.1" 301 347
    90.232.232.10 - benny@somdomain.nu [19/Jul/2011:15:57:32 +0200] "GET /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync/ HTTP/1.1" 200 788
The Android won't do a second OPTIONS request, therefore it breaks. Valid on Touchdown, Motorola Corp Sync and Zimbra for Android.
    Hope that gives some understanding...

I was referring to the alias I was just using the word redirect instead

I'm running ubuntu 32bit with virtualmin as my web server on it's own vm with it's on ip

Then zimbra on ubuntu 64bit on it's on vm with it's own ip

I use proxmox openvz containers on 1u half depth server 8g ram 2 physical CPUs at 2 ghz each
