    SORRY: I put the PHP version check the wrong way around last night.

    Default Release 41 posted to SourceForge

    Release 41 has been posted to SourceForge.

    It addresses the missing timezone function issue, and a couple of other small bugs.

    Nokia MfE isn't syncing calendar with r41!

    Z-Push 1.4
    BackendZimbra r41
    MfE 3.00.050 on N95 S/W v31.0.01716-1

    E-mail syncs fine, received appointment requests work fine (yay!) and appointments generated on the handset are pushed into the Zimbra calendar. However, no existing appointments are pulled from ZCS to the handset. Sync terminates with error: "Unable to synchronise with server. Try again later" - helpful!

    Anyone else seen this?

    I am using MFE 3.00.050 on a Nokia E-71 and have no problems.

    Note: MFE does not properly support "Always on" - you should set "Every 15 minutes"

    Did you select "Delete items on phone" when setting up synchronization ?

    Can you turn on debugging, and see if you can narrow the issue down to a particular appointment where the sync is failing.

    create a text file debug.txt in the z-push home folder, then chmod 777 debug.txt so it is writable by the web server

    edit wbxml.php and set
    define('WBXML_DEBUG', true);
    at line 15

    Then, retry the sync.

    For each outgoing appointment from the server to the phone you should see a block of lines beginning with O and referencing a set of fields labeled POOMCAL:

    Here's a sample extract

    Code:
    06/28/10 15:16:22 [4968] O     <Perform>
    06/28/10 15:16:22 [4968] O      <Add>

    06/28/10 15:16:22 [4968] O        </POOMCAL:Subject>
    Look to see if you can identify a failure where it is beginning to sync the appointments.

    Hi LFCFan,

    I've already got the schedule on 15-mins and have done a 'full resync' with 'Delete items on phone' set - that just succeeded in removing the items from the handset.

    The last appointment (and the last item) in the debug log is a week of all-day, out-of-offices 26th-30th July. The next appt after that in ZCS is 9th August mid-afternoon. There don't seem to be any errors in the debug, at least nothing that looks like it's prematurely terminated etc.

    The end of the debug log looks like this:
    Code:
    06/28/10 15:31:12 [25880] O      <Add>
    06/28/10 15:31:12 [25880] O       <ServerEntryId>

    Nothing had been changed on the handset since this morning when everything sync'd fine with Z-Push 1.3RC3 and BEZ r36. I updated to 1.4 w/ r41 for the improved appt-booking.

    I'm not using the 'user' files, would that make a difference?

    UPDATE:

    Found this in the logs on the handset:

    Code:
    28/06/2010 15:31:11 Failed to decode XML document
    28/06/2010 15:31:11 client->server adds=0 changes=0 deletes=0 fails=0
    28/06/2010 15:31:11 server->client adds=0 changes=0 deletes=0 fails=0
    28/06/2010 15:31:11 end Calendar sync
    28/06/2010 15:31:11 KEASErrSvrSyncFailed While decoding the server response. So just continue with other collections
    Any suggestions?

    So. Did this multi-day appointment make it to the phone ?
    I created a similar appointment here, and it worked correctly.

    It could. The default behaviour for Nokia is to just sync the root level Calendar folder as far as I am aware. Without using user files you might not get any other Calendar folders.

    Did you get any errors in your web server log ?

    Please see a PM from me.

    No errors in the apache log, and as I said in my e-mail, multiple calendars were working fine until I updated to r41.

    I've tried deleting one of the calendars and the same error still occurs.

    When I'm feeling brave I might try user files out!

    UPDATE:

    I've (exported and) deleted all of the appts from my calendar - it syncs!
    Added appts to calendar - syncs!

    I re-imported the SECOND calendar - error!

    I conclude that it must be a problem with handling 'extra' calendars, but this feature was working great in r36. I don't want to have to resort to user files as I'd then have to configure each user individually - much work, me no like!

    I might have to fall back to Z-Push 1.3 with BEZ r3x and lose on-handset accept/tentative/decline.
