    Default Problem migrating from Sun iPlanet to Zimbra

    I'm using imapsync to migrate mail from our old iPlanet to Zimbra. It's going well for the most part, except it won't copy some of my users' inboxes. So far, this has only happened with the inbox, all other folders are fine.

    First, it says that the folder size is zero, while containing a couple thousand messages.

    Code:
    ++++ Calculating sizes ++++
    From Folder [INBOX] Size: 0 Messages: 1990
    It then errors on IMAPClient.pm:

    Code:
    From Folder [INBOX]
    To   Folder [INBOX]
    From Buffer I/O : 65536
    To   Buffer I/O : 65536
    ++++ From Parse 1 ++++
    Use of uninitialized value in split at /usr/share/perl5/Mail/IMAPClient.pm line 2634.
    Time headers: 0 s
    Time sizes  : 0 s
    Time headers: 0 s
    and no messages are copied over. This looks like it might be a bug within the Perl module itself. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Can you try disabling IDLE by appending /ni at the end of your username?

    If I use the /ni option for the username, the IMAP servers refuse login.

    Code:
     Error login : [mail.bog3d.com] with user [dkirchhoff/ni] : 3 NO Authentication failed
    I appended the /ni as follows:

    Code:
    imapsync --nosyncacls \
     --subscribe \
     --syncinternaldates \
     --host1 mail.bog3d.com
     --user1 dkirchhoff/ni --password1 <pass> \
     --host2 192.168.1.71 \
     --user2 dkirchhoff/ni --password2 <pass> \
     --folder INBOX

    That should be '/ni' for the login to the Zimbra server.

    If I use 'dkirchhoff/ni' for the username for zimbra, it also refuses.

    Code:
    Error login : [192.168.1.71] with user [dkirchhoff/ni] : 3 NO LOGIN failed

    Sorry, I was assuming you have 4.5.6 installed - is that the version you're using? The /ni option was added to that version, you'll need to upgrade to use it.

    4.5.6 of course accepts the /ni bit, but sadly this doesn't change anything for imapsync. I can still see that he has 1984 messages in his inbox, but the size still reports as 0.

    We're currently fleeing a Sun iPlanet Messaging Server 5.2 Patch 2 - which is supposed to be supported by imapsync.
