Exclamation View exchange GAL in address book tab

Is there a way to see the company address book that resides on exchange server and is available via LDAP when one composes a new message in zimbra - in the address book tab also?

I am able to view the exchange address book when I compose a new message but I cannot see any contacts from there when I go to the addressbook tab,

Thanks
A

One of the reason's this is not done is because the idea of the global address book is to have it kept up to date. Plus you don't want everyone querying the entire thing all the time.

See: Bug 5989 - making the GAL browsable - browse & Bug 14531 - GAL via contacts folders

So what you can do if you want a 'snap shot'
-enable as many returns per search to the gal as you need in the admin console
-type a . (period) in the main search bar
-select global address list from the drop down to search
-Highlight as many as you wish (using shift/ctl combinations) & drag them to a personal address book

I tried it but it only shows the contacts in "Zimbra" address book not the ones located in the Exchange GAL.BTW the contacts stored in Exchange is only visible while composing a mail but not while looking up in the addressbook. Esentially I am trying to make the contacts in exchange visible to the zimbra users.

try this: admin console > domains > domain > GAL tab > set GAL mode to both

Did you just set it to external only instead of both?

Using just compose/to, typing a . and searching the GAL, do the exchange addresses show up?
If not, back to the admin console. If your a NE customer you might a support request as well.

If so, do I understand your problem as:? Composing mail method shows proper GAL, but searching using the main toolbar does not. Need way to add contacts to a personal address book?

Again, if you just want to flip through all the GAL contacts:
Bug 5989 - making the GAL browsable - browse & Bug 14531 - GAL via contacts folders

Make a flash/swf/annimation/vid (an easy program is wink) of your method and write in your expected results at each step. Make one with different GAL settings in the admin console etc.
Your starting to interchange terms and I think that would help clarify.
