Default Migration from Debian to Ubuntu

Hi,

currently we have the open source editon 4.5.4 running on a debian 3.1 server. What are the best and fastest steps to migrate the whole installation to an ubuntu 6.10 server?

You really mean a Ubuntu 6.06 LTS server don't you?

On the new server, install the same release of Zimbra that you currently have running and make sure it's OK (make sure the new zimbra has the same uid & gid as the old system). Stop Zimbra on the old server, copy the /opt/zimbra directory to the new machine (set the LDAP password - details in wiki) then do an upgrade of Zimbra on the new server. That should be about it, check the forums & wiki just in case I've missed anything. I'm assuming that during this process the new machine will have the same hostname & IP address as the old one?

I mean Ubuntu 6.10. But that is not the point of discussion. More important is the fact, that your idea worked perfectly. Thanks
