Default Migration from Exchange 2000

Hi,

i've installed and configured Zimbra without problems on Ubuntu 6.06. Now i've to prove to my company the benefits of Zimbra Network Edition.

I want to migrate the account from Exchange 2000 to Zimbra without shutdown the Exchange Server. I would like to copy all mails, calendars and contacts in Zimbra without delete anything in the Exchange Server.

Can i follow this link

http://wiki.zimbra.com/index.php?tit...rom_Exch ange

without problem ? These instructions will no affect my company Exchange System in any manner ? I need to copy 15 email account (total space 15 gb), i will encounter some difficulty ? I've read in the forum of some user success but i'm concerned about limit of Zimbra because each month we have to export mails from Exchange 2000 (for the 16 gb limit) and with a new solution we don't want anymore to do this ! Can Zimbra work propely with 60-80 gb of mails ?

The Network Edition can run without problem in Ubuntu ?

Can we try the Network Edition for production for the first 2 months and after if we are satisfied just upgrade our license ? Can we buy 15 license or the minimum is 25 ?

Thanks and sorry for my bad english.

Thanks

Welcome to the forums.

The migration wizard is only for Exchange 2003 I'm afraid. You could use IMAPSYNC and other tools to get the info into Zimbra. You should have no problem with that quantity of email. Zimbra can run on Ubuntu - it must be the Ubuntu 6.x LTS version for NE.

You'd have to confirm pricing & licences with sales but the minimum is 25 user licence.

About the other questions, Zimbra is designed to run with thousands of users (and mailstores full of thousands of gigabyte), don't worry about 80 GB

Now for a sensible answer. You can use the Migration wizard with Exchange 2000, I don't know what I was thinking when I said it was 2003 only - sorry.

Thanks phoenix and don't worry, i think we are one of the latest company running with Exchange 2000.

Btw if i start the migration tools on the Exchange 2000 Server i will get an error because i have not installed Outlook 2003. What i have to do ?

The migration tool will not change anything on the Exchange Server right ?

We do not change anything on your Exchange server, all the data remains there we only copy it to the Zimbra server.

You run the Wizard on the Exchange server and you don't need Outlook installed on the server (it's not recommended by Microsoft). I don't know if you've seen this but there's some documentation on the Migration Wizard here.
