Hi everybody...

My firm use zimbra oss edition as mailserver... I'm looking at a Desktop client and it seems that thunderbird 2 + lightning 0.5 + a custom extension is a good solution...

I've tried to use the ics REST interface... It works well when you just read... but if you try to modify...

- The entire calendar is transfered between the server and the client each time you do a transaction
- I cannot delete event (i don't know why)

-> The good protocol for calendar sharing is CALDAV, but i've read it will not be ready for zimbra 5.0...
It's the only way to share a calendar in read/write efficiently

So i'm developing a CALDAV wrapper in mono C#.
It's a CALDAV server on the frontend, it can have multiple backend, now it stores event in a postgresql database, i'm writting a zimbra backend to store event in Zimbra via Soap...

Now it works with TB2.0 + lightning and with evolution

I have solved my error problem. I simply switched from 0.3 to 0.5. I however cannot delete calendar entries. I have to go to the zimbra client to do this. has anyone come up with a fix or work around for this?

I think I found a workaround to delete an event from Lightning 0.3.1/0.5:

If you open the meeting, click "More>>>" to expand the view, and change the status to "Cancelled" it will be deleted from the Zimbra calendar and this change will be reflected into Lightning at the next calendar reload. It's not super elegant but seems to function -- at least for me.

Hey Is there a way to look at someone elses calendar in lightening? I want to see other users of the system's availability.

Sure-
Just have them share out the calendar. It will give a url for an iCal file, and import that. You wont' be able to write to it tho.

I tried this and it did not work. I did the following.

I added a nwe calendar. i did the Ical option with location = URL i got from the share. then once i was done i got the following error.

There has been an error reading data for calendar: Test-share. It has been placed in read-only mode, since changes to this calendar will likely result in data-loss. You may change this setting by choosing 'Edit Calendar'.

then i click ok and the calendar show up but nothing in it. any suggestions.

Hi,

Is it still necessary to use the Google Provider Connector to get the two-way interactivity?

Steve.
