Calendar Reminders

Hello,

I am in charge of migrating my work site to Zimbra, and I have noticed that calendar reminders do not really *pop-up*, but only display in the web browser. I have been searching the posts in the forums, and I located a bug (7899)regarding the problem, and I voted for it.

I am wondering what Calendar client others are using under Linux? I have been trying out Lightning and it looks pretty good, but I have noticed that when I delete a calendar entry from the Lightning application, the change does *not* show up in the Zimbra web client.

We have some stuff on the way that may help you on this path, but it's not ready yet.

What about this Toaster app that I see mention of in the forums. Seems like it is only ready on Windows from what I read. Is that correct?

We are on 5.0.2, and my users keep asking me how to get a calendar reminder. They would like:

- An SMS (or email) sent to their mobile
- Even just an email to their INBOX?
- A Popup thats.... more "intrusive" than the current "silent overlay"
- Maybe something audible, perhaps using Toaster?

Hi. I've voted for the bugs mentioned, and the flexible alarm schedule bug is quote old -- is there any word on the progress on this? My users are going to have my head if this stuff isn't resolved in a reasonable time frame -- most of us expected this to be part of Zimbra 5.

It's a great product, don't get me wrong, but this is one of those things that in the big picture is a small omission that stands out like a sore thumb. Just some word of where the progress is on this would go a long way.

Yeah, I've been wondering about the progress of some of these reminder and alerts bugs/RFE's as well. The recent release of the Toaster-like application for Linux kind of renewed my interest in the Toaster. With each new release of Zimbra I go through the process of uninstalling the old version of the Toaster and installing the new one (still not sure why you have to uninstall first, instead of an "upgrade" like most programs) only to be disappointed not to find any new features. So, I guess my questions are: Is the Toaster still being developed? Will it ever include the functionality for calendar reminders? Is there anything else "on the way", as indicated in a previous (old) post that might address these issues?
