Default Zimbra Migration 8.0.3.780 - Error Creating Mailbox

    Hey everyone,

Having some problems with the migration tool. Here's the steps I'm taking:

    1. Select Server Migration
    2. Select Exchange Server
    3. Enter Exchange server Hostname (tried IP and FQDN)
    4. Enter Administrator Credentials (and it has full read/send as/etc on mailbox server)
    5. Click Next and see error

    Error: Exchange mailbox creation failed.

    Environment:
    1 x SBS 2003 (DC/Exchange/DNS/+ usual SBS apps)
    1 x DC running Windows 2012

    Migration Machine
    Windows 2003 32bit - Outlook 2007 32bit

HELP!!!! On a successful migration in the test lab I get the strContainer & msExchHomeSvrName whereas here in the live enironment I'm not, i'm only getting strContainer. I've used ADSI Edit to confirm value exists.

This is probably a permissions issue; the admin user you are using is most likely missing some rights.

The user i'm using is the Administrator account. It has full access to the mailbox store (I've added sendas and receiveas for migration purposes).

I'm wondering if the program is trying to create a mailbox on the other DC which does not have Exchange management tools on it for 2003. There is no way I can see that you specify which DC to use which would be a handy feature.

Had to give up on that tool anyway as migrating tonight. Using the Legacy Exchange tool. Problem is that stops working if you have more than 30 accounts to migrate which is a shame as I have 36. Going to have to set my alarm to do the final 6 users during the wee small hours.

The 30 user bit is the DoS filter in ZCS8. You can add the migration client IP to the whitelist to avoid that issue.

thanks quanah. i noticed that in another thread on here and added my migration box in as a dos whitelist member.

I'm getting random crashes using that wizard now though. crashes at random mailboxes. tried 5 at a time, 3 at a time and one at a time. just comes up with the windows "this app has crashed" dialog and asks to send reports to ms.

the eset av is turned off on the sbs server and the migration host (2008r2 used as an rds server).

I think you must have tried:

zmprov mcf zimbraHttpThrottleSafeIPs <Your Migration Client IP>

    zmmailboxdctl restart

Did you see any entry of "WARNejs.DoSFilterOS ALERT:ip=<Your Migration Client IP>,session=null, user=null" in /opt/zimbra/log/zmmailboxd.out. This means this is something related to DOS filter.

Please try to get migration logs to get some idea.

    Thanks Prashant.

Yeah i managed to get the migration working using the above command. Client kept hanging and force closing though. Just had to keep starting it off again every so often.
