Talking Need to migrate emails from a windows server to a linux server

My hosting provider is hostgator, they've told me that it is possible to easily migrate all emails on a linux to linux but not from a windows to linux migration. Where to start? Thanks in advance

Hostgator I believe they are not running Zimbra as they have cPanel running as their platform behind?

Migrating from Linux to Linux can be done provided both source and destination are on same mail server type or if it's different type, you have some scripting to help you to do that.

Migrating from Linux to Windows or vice versa usually it's hard to be done unless you setup some customizing script and you understand the mail server platform so you could 'convert' the mail message and your data over. The other way of migrating emails on this case is to setup the IMAP account for both Windows and Linux and move the message around.
