Default Palm hotsync with outlook and zimbra

We are currently evaluating the network version 4.0.2 with the intent to purchase if all problems are addressed

Wondering if anyone else came across this.

palm calendar sync with mail works over the air with versamail both ways, neat.

but in order to import contacts I have to use hostsync from palm, versamail does not support this yet.

when I do a hostsync against outlook for only my contacts, host sync crashes and fails to sync the contacts. When I switch my outlook to a non zimbra profile hostsync works fine.

Anyone had similar problems and foun a solution (even 3rd party)

Default RE: Palm hotsync with outlook and zimbra

I am using zimbra 4.0.4 NE with outlook 2003 and the zimbra connector and when I tried to hot sync it also did not finish. I let it go for about 5 minutes and the hot sync manager was reporting in task manager as "Not Responding". I had the same result as you when I used hot sync against my normal outlook exchange profile everything went fine. I too would like to know if anyone got this to work or if support has any recommendations.
Thanks,
Jim...

Yes, the sync with a treo does work but if you have a specific problem/question it's better directed to the Zimbra support than these forums.

Yes, they do but your answer will probably come quicker from the support group directly.

Default palm treo 650

Well, whover made this work I'ld be curious how. When I sync agains outlook with zimbra connector hotsync crashes and these msgs show up in the log

Oddly enough some other users sync tasks and memos and this does not seem to happen. I just reinstalled that users OS, office2003, palmdesktop,
zimbra etc.

Even if I just make a simple task in an otherwise empty tasklist in outlook
hotsync crashes. this is with hotsync 6.0.1 with palmdesktop 4.1.4 from verizon. Any clues anyone, thanks

Well, google throws up quite a few entries on this type of error such as this or

However, my advice would be to file a bug report with Zimbra support. One of the developers may see this post or a forum member may have had this problem but support will be able to give you more help than we can on this type of problem.

You don't actually mention which release/version of the Outlook Connector or Zimbra that you're using, are they all the most recent?

Default treo hotsync - update

I finally gave up trying to figure out what permutation makes this work. I have several users with treos from verious cellphone providers. for some it works for some it doesn't I even reinstalled for one user the whole OS,palmdesktop, updates, zimbra etc and wasted 2 days doing so. Eventually, the hotsync on notes and tasks always made hotsync crash. I was even able to duplicate this
with one of my test machines on another system with a treo from a different cellphone provider. I used the software that came with the phones (desktop 4.1.4), I asume the download version, which reports the same revision has not changed

I then switched to chapura pocket mirror, and the syncing works fine, no more crashes. Go back to hotsync and hotsync crashes.

From what I read here (and the tests we made) it seems there are lots of issues with "any" device trying to sync through Outlook.

We have issues with Blackberry Desktop, with Nokia PC Suite (with a Communicator 9300 that syncs "sometimes", mostly crashes Outlook or PC Suite), with the Sony Ericson tool (with P990i, same story than PC Suite) but no issue (yet) with Windows 2003 PDA (with ActiveSync)...

Obviously the 9300 (with Dataviz' RoadSync) or the P990i syncs perfectly OTA.
But all customers do not want to buy additional software (Roadsync) or worse, change their PDA/Phone...

The answer from the support to Jason (in the linked thread) was "we do not test the ZCO with other connector".
Should we understand we won't get any support on all these setups ?

Yes, but that wasn't the whole quote was it? The full quote is
Quote:
Jason, we don't test the Zimbra Connector for Outlook (ZCO) with other outlook plugins installed, so there's a possibility that the BB connector to outlook and the ZCO are conflicting with each other.
I read that to mean that they can't test ZCO with all the other Outlook Plug-Ins on the market and therefore can't guarantee that they would work. All they can do is test their own software.

The follow-up to that was this post by Sam in the same thread that clarifies the situation. As far as I understand that post by Sam you do get support.
