Question OS compactability

I am about to install but since I am not an expert for Linux so I think I better ask before I do something stupid.

Does Zimbra works with Red Hat Linux 9?

Short answer is, no.

Zimbra runs with the versions mentioned in the Requirements section of the documentation (they operating systems are listed in the downloads page) with the additional proviso that the RHEL versions will run on CentOS (which is a free version of RHEL).

Thanks for the quick reply.
If that's the case I probably have to install another OS for the server.
As Fedora Core 5 are the latest version of FC, which is not list in the page.
I think FC5 is just an improved version of FC3 and 4, as a result Zimbra should be compactable with it, am I right?

The short answer again, maybe. You might get it working but I wouldn't guarantee it.

My recommendation would be to install Zimbra on CentOS 4.4, it's built from the Redhat 4 source and RHEL4 is the recommended o/s for the Network Edition of Zimbra. I use CentOS without problems as do some other members of the forum. It's a server operating system and designed to run this type of application.

As I mentioned above, CentOS is built from the RHEL4 source and it's the same - but it's free. You can find more about it at www.centos.org

Yes. Take a gander at the webinar area of the forums. ZCS uses Apache's lucene.
