Default Add Blacklist to salocal.cf.in Not Working

Dear Expert,

I've follow Improving Anti-spam system wiki ..

I tried to add 'blacklist_from dchristiaan@gmail.com" on /opt/zimbra/conf/salocal.cf.in and restart amavis (zmamavisdctl restart) but it didn't work.

I've try to send and email from dchristiaan@gmail.com to my zimbra mail server and not REJECTED.

Anybody can help me?

Thanks,
Donny Christiaan.

Please check /var/log/zimbra.log for any messages pertaining to this email address. When Amavis was restarted check for any error messages. Also make sure that the blacklist entry appears in salocal.cf after the restart. You may need to restart ZCS completely.

Hi uxbod,

It's work when I edit /opt/zimbra/conf/salocal.cf not /opt/zimbra/conf/salocal.cf.in ... anything else should I do to make this setting permanent ?

Thanks,
Donny Christiaan.

You need to make the change to the .in file for it to be persistent but I believe you will need to perform a complete ZCS restart for it to be picked up correctly.

"Making the change permanent" is a tricky concept. Every time you upgrade to a new release of Zimbra, all of those configuration files get overwritten, so you must be prepared to back up and restore them whenever you do an upgrade.

I don't like having to maintain multiple files, particularly since the upgrades may include new fixes that would be broken if I simply restored old files. For this reason I make all my changes in /opt/zimbra/conf/spamassassin/local.cf, which is a file that the releases don't change. That way I can simply back up and restore that one file and keep all of my custom tweaks. local.cf is the last file read by the system, so any settings in that file override equivalent settings in the other *.cf files.
