Default Zimbra VM Migration

All,
Here is my situation, and I am looking for some advice. I have 2 virtual servers, each part of a single zimbra cluster, configured as follows:

mailhost1.domain1.com:
  • LDAP
  • LOGGER
  • MAILBOX
  • SNMP
  • SPELL
  • STATS

mailmta1.domain1.com:
  • ANTISPAM
  • ANTIVIRUS
  • IMAPPROXY
  • MTA
  • SNMP
  • STATS

together these servers represent the mail solution for external-domain.com.

My customers from external-domain.com have elected to move the servers to their premises. Since the server are all virtual, I see no real issue with this, except for how I should deal with the domain / hostname changes for the servers themselves.
For example:

mailhost01.domain.com will become mailhost01.external-domain.com
mailmat01.domain.com will become mailmta01.external-domain.com

So what I am wondering is if there is a documented process for changing hostnames for servers in a ZCS cluster without performing some sort of Zimbra -> Zimbra migration.

FWIW, these servers are running: Release 5.0.20_GA_3127.UBUNTU8 UBUNTU8 NETWORK edition

The customer purchased the licenses and all, and the MX records / DNS is easily enough prepared.
Has anyone ever done anything like this before?
