Default [SOLVED] Calendar Exchange 'categories' vs Zimbra tags

After convincing a client to migrate from Exchange to Zimbra, it now seems to be a problem.
In Exchange/Outlook, a shared calendar/appointment can be colour coded to show status or other info of the appointment. The only similar feature I can see in Zimbra is a small coloured icon, but that only display on the 'owner' of the calendar and cannot be viewed or changed from another user that is sharing that calendar.
This is a major deal-breaker as the primary function they use the shared calendar for is for different users to be able to see the status of booked 'jobs' via the colour-coding.
Is there some way of emulating this behaviour? I saw a post about creating tags in the same order with the same names, but still users cannot see or change tags if they are using a shared calendar!?
