Sorry to hijack a thread like this but it is kind of related.

Emacias, how are you managing the fact that you don't know all your mailbox passwords? I am doing a smaller migration and I plan to use imapsync as well but I don't know how my users passwords which makes it pretty hard to run the sync without resetting password.

    Thanks
    Simon

    http://www.linux-france.org/prj/imapsync/README
    read the SECURITY section
    "..
You may authenticate as one user (typically an admin user), but be
authorized as someone else, which means you don't need to know every
user's personal password. Specify --authuser1 "adminuser" to enable this
on host1. In this case, --authmech1 PLAIN will be used by default since
it is the only way to go for now. So don't use --authmech1 SOMETHING
with --authuser1 "adminuser", it will not work. Same behavior with the
    --authuser2 option.
    .."

    Hello

We did some test with Zimbra open source and liked it. Now, I wondering if this edition (open source) is a good choice for a large deployment. In our case, we would have around 10 - 15 thousand users.

I know that the open source edition does not have a full integrated solution for backups. Our plan is to evaluate some solutions suggested in the wikis and forums... in the hope they will be acceptable for us.

So, I would like to know if some people here use Zimbra OSE for a large environement. Did you encounter difficulties. Do you still suggest this kind of solution or maybe the fact that there is no support from Zimbra is too risky ?

I could have stated a new thread, but since this thread already talks about Zimbra open source for a large number of users, I though it would be a good place to ask my question.

And of course, since emacias started this thread, I'd like to know how things are going for his own environement.

    Thanks
