Default Import contacts from Thunderbird in french

Hi,

I upgraded to 6.0.4 but there no way to imports contacts from a french Thunderbird in .ldif or .csv in .csv format the first row is not understand by the import script.

There is a way to change the first row to one compatible with the script, or a fix for the .ldif Thunderbird format.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sam.

Yes I read this Wiki page but it's not really my very basics users expect, I talked about a way by the Preferences-->Import/Export menu they can import their contacts.

I talked about a fix, without this is we don't talk a migration, I prefer you (the devs) suppress the buggy Import/Export menu instead have to say 300 times "No ! don't use this, there is a BUG"

Thanks anyway.

Sam.

There isn't a bug, all mail clients export their contacts in a different format and that's what the problem is. There is a script to reformat the csv on the page I gave you, did you try that.

You're always welcome to file an RFE in bugzilla if you'd like to see different behaviour.

Perhaps for my own contacts I will spend a couple of hours to install python and your script to see if it work but not for 300 users...

In my opinion don't put in the Import/Export menu the choice Thunderbird, Outlook, etc, this implies that zimbra know how to import these formats, not for me but for basics users it's a bug.

I think I already notified that in bugzilla.zimbra.com but if in your opinion it's not a bug why to fix a no-bug.

Actually the Import/Export function is for Zimbra contacts but I could ask why Thunderbird and all the other client don't export their csv files in the correct format that Zimbra expects. There is no standard layout for exporting or importing contacts.

Bugzilla is also the place to file enhancement requests which is what I suggested you file (Request For Enhancement).

Ok, I do that Bug 44285...

Request For Enhancement, not Bug Report. but bugzilla said "Bugzilla – Bug 44285 Submitted"

You can change the severity of Bug 44285 - No way to import contacts from Thunderbird (french) ldif and csv to "Enhancement".
