Red face [SOLVED] Migration Postifix+OpenWebmail+Mailbox to Zimbra

Good morning everyone, I am installing zimbra here in the company and to transfer the old server running postfix + openwebmail + mailbox without imap to zimbra, I would like a solution, the old server can not stop the migration must be transparent to the End User. I tried to imapsync seeing some tutorials, but I did not have to install an imap client on the old server, this can influence the service on the old server? I would like to do this in the most automated as possible, because they are more than 1500 accounts. I look back. Thank you.

If the old server is running in a production environment with a high load on it you should probably use a different machine to run the imapsync on as it can use quite a bit of CPU power.

Since the old system is running postfix you might be able to setup the users on Zimbra and then rsync over the store, but I don't really know if that is possible.

Generally the best option when transferring between servers is imapsync.

if you don't have imap, you can try some other tools which can import from mbox or maildir. I cannot point you directly, but I think I've seen some tools around.

Morning Maxxer not use the maildir format, but mailbox. Therefore, I would have to first migrate the mailbox to maildir and then they migrate to zimbra. Had seen in some forums about it and saw that after migrating to maildir had no return and could experience failures. So I wonder if there is any solution for my scenario or not.

Gosh, you could search the forums and/or wiki: Mail Migration - Zimbra :: Wiki

Thumbs down

Good morning, phoenix, before coming to post this question I was researching the forums and wiki, zimbra, I know the site you sent it had found something about what had worked and would not have created this post asking for help from members.

That's not exactly a helpful response. The problem is you've given no details of what you've tried nor any details of errors you've encountered - we're not exactly mind readers around here. Other forum members have used those details successfully to migrate to a Zimbra server, how about giving some further details of exactly what you've tried and why it doesn't work (with any errors you've encountered) instead of you just posting 'it doesn't work'. Try giving us some information so we don't have to keep guessing and asking you questions. FWIW, the best option to use would be IMAPSYNC, have you actually tried it?

Thumbs up

Good afternoon, Phoenix, I will describe my environment as well detailing the scenario, now I have a server with Postfix + + openwebmail mailbox in production, and am trying to migrate the service to the zimbra 6. I configured a virtual machine with zimbra on my corporate network and now I'm trying to do the search for an old account and put the new server, I tested a script that could imapsync the wiki, zimbra but gave an error. I tried downloading the Outlook and had success, but to do this for all accounts is impracticable and realized that imapsync the procedure is manual and, as I have to pass the password for each casino. I wonder if there's something more automatic. I am studying my environment to see if now the problem is not in him. Here is a question to the production server have to have imap installed and working? The script I run the virtual machine or the old server that is in production?
