Default migration to 6 and hostname issues

Hi,

I'm running Release 5.0.14_GA_2850.UBUNTU8 UBUNTU8 NETWORK edition at work (so ignore my personal server info).

When I set the system up, I had a hostname issue, and ended up going into a whole slew of LDAP config files to change my hostname. Naturally, not everything is working.

I'd like to solve all my problems, and upgrade to 6 at the same time. Is the following a valid path to follow to migrate to a new server while retaining all user info (calendars, email, etc).

1. install 5.0.14 on a new server with new hostname
2. do a backup of the original server
3. restore the original server onto the new server
4. run for a few days
5. upgrade to 5.0.18
6. upgrade to 6.0

I'd like to do a 32 bit to 64 bit upgrade at the same time, but I'm afraid I'd be doing too much.

Gerald

You should never need to hack LDAP files due to hostname issues. They all stem from mis-configured files and DNS when ZCS is initially installed. You would be better to fix that first before proceeding with a upgrade.

That's not what I read in the Wiki and forums way back when.

At any rate, that's the main reason I want to do a fresh install, with all data transfered for users. I'll even re-create the users and aliases if I have to, as long as I can move the data over.
