Default migration issue from dovecot+mysql to zimbra

Hi,

At the moment we have dovecot + mysql + dovecot proxy.
Users login with imap/pop3 by using shortnames like foo123.

Now, is there any possiblity to use shortnames with zimbra as well? It seems that we need to ask our customers to change their logins from shortnames to first.last@domain.xx .. is this our only option or can we somehow do somekind of map-file to zimbra proxy server, where we eg. tell:

foo123 -> foo.bar@domain.xx

Thanks for advance.

Actually, replying to myself we noticed that if you create aliases to default domain, you can log on with shortnames.

So question is, can this cause some side-effects? Any ideas?
