Default proxying shortname to zimbra accounts

hi,

currenly we are using dovecot and users have shortname, which they use for login, eg user001@domain

now if we migrate to zimbra, one problem is those shortnames, since zimbra uses first.last@domain -accounts.

Is there a way to tell nginx (proxy) to map shortname to long names or do we encounter only more problems here?

thanks for advance!

Why not create a alias against those account names ? Just go into the admin GUI and under aliases create user001 against first.last@domain. Tested here and it works just fine.

Even if I do an alias, I cannot log on with shortname, right?

It would be alias@domain ... right? I'd like to use only a shortname when logging in.

Yes, but what you can do is go into the Admin GUI and select the domain from the list on the left. When that open click on the Virtual Hosts tab. Enter the FQDN of the ZCS server that your uses connect to. This means that when they go to the URL it will automatically use that domain and allow them to enter the short name.

Yep I know that.. but it won't work with imap/pop clients.
