Exclamation Disaster Recovery (Primary and Secondary)

Hi all,
I have installed the zimbra collabouration suite. My data is over the SAN (Mailboxes DATA) i.e. I have mounted SAN on /opt/zimbra/store.

I want to configure one more machine with the similar configuration and want it to be a cold backup machine.
How can I take the backup of the users and passwords from LDAP(zimbra) and how can I import the users to another LDAP (zimbra) so that if something goes wrong with my primary machine I can make the secondary work (cold backup).
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
what I am thinking is that if my primary goes down, I will import the users and passwords (LDAP MODIFY) and will make the SAN mounted on the /opt/zimbra/store of the secondary machine. And I guess every thing will start working fine.

Regards
Adeel

Please update your forum profile with the output of the following command:

Code:
zmcontrol -v
What you're asking for isn't a supported setup for Zimbra, you'd be far better using a clsuter and the only one currently supported is RHCS.

You should, however, search the forums and wiki as the setup of a cold-backup has been asked and answered already.

Why not mounting everything (except backup) on the SAN?
It would be much easier (and faster too as SAN is supposed to be faster than local disks, so better for databases and indexes)...

Exclamation For Klug

Thanks,
Does this mean that instead of mount the SAN slice over //opt/zimbra/store.
I should be mounting it at /opt.
Which mean the software installation will also be over the SAN isn't?

Have you tried this practically ?

The answer to both questions is yes.

And you're asked to upgrade your profile to know which ZCS version you're running.

Talking Zmcontrol -v

I am using Release 5.0.14_GA_2850.RHEL4_20090303132820 RHEL4 FOSS edition
So that means that the services will start on the secondary node as well even provided the SAN should be mounted over /opt ???

Thanks

If the secondary node and SAN are correctly setup, yes.

That should go in your forum profile not in this thread otherwise we have to ask you every time you post a question what version you're running, it gets a bit tedious after a while.
