Default [SOLVED] Default Domain name alias

We are well into our first day of having migrated to the Zimbra system. We have a few domains aliased to our main domain, the aliasing works fine mail is received into the system fine. The problem is that these people can't utilize their email address for the login.

Example: mike@defaultdomain.com or mike works for the username
mike@aliasdomain.com doesn't work

Is there a way to make it so that my domain aliases will also be tied to the default domain on login, through a pop3/imap client?

For anybody else who has this issue, I had created the alias domains under 5.0.13, we upgraded to 5.0.16 before going live, I removed the old aliases I had created and used the new command format, and it is working as I had hoped. The users can login to the default domain with any of the aliased domain realms.

zmprov cad aliasdomain.com defaultdomain.com

from my understanding of anything "alias" i.e.: domain or account alias..is not really an entity which has its own uername and password as compared to "full account"
so in short i dont think so SMTP AUTH is allowed on anythig other than "account"
i.e: in your case mike@aliasdomain.com is really NOT an "account"

Raj,

Recreating the Domain's aliased to my main domain with the new command provided in 5.0.16, allowed customers to

login via pop3 with username@domainalias.com
login via imap with username@domainalias.com
login via zimbra http with username@domainalias.com
smtp auth with username@domainalias.com

Very interesting document :-)
Just a question: how to delete the domain alias configuration created in the pre 5.0.16 way?
And is there a deleteAliasDomain or similar for deleting Alias Domain in 5.0.16?
Thank you!
Cheers,
Luca

I used the following, although I'm not sure it removed everything, but all seems to be functioning mostly properly.

zmprov gad - shows all domains
zmprov dd domainalias - deletes aliasdomain.

I've done it in this way:
to remove the configuration done with 5.0.14:
zmprov md aliasdomain.com zimbraMailCatchAllAddress '' zimbraMailCatchAllForwardingAddress ''
zmprov dd aliasdomain.com

then after the upgrade to 5.0.16:
zmprov cad aliasdomain.com domain.com zimbraMailCatchAllForwardingAddress @domain.com

All seems to work properly.

Cheers,
Luca

Stupid question, is there a way to see the catchall's, I don't want any catchall's, I believe this might be related to a problem I'm having with my mailfoundry gateway thinking the zimbra server handles all domains in the world.

EDIT: anybody with this issue should use liuk's syntax for removal and readding. My syntax resulted in the catchall not being created, and local mailing between aliased domains failed. It did work from the outside strangely however, just not from the zimbra mta itself.

Yes:

zmprov gd domainalias.com zimbraMailCatchAllForwardingAddress
should give something like this:

# name domainalias.com
zimbraMailCatchAllForwardingAddress: @domain.com
