Default [SOLVED] Migrating Zimbra to Outlook

Hello,

To alleviate one issue on our network, we are adding the option of having users use Outlook as well as Zimbra (open source). What I am trying to find is there a way to migrate Zimbra Sent items to Outlook (Office 2000). We had no problems getting the inbox into Outlook, though the Sent items did not come over. Short of forwarding off every item in the Sent folder, a migration tool would be best.

Any Ideas ...?
Sir Bob

Maybe not as automated as you are looking for, but within Outlook you should be able to open the Zimbra Sent folder, select the messages you want to move, and drag-and-drop them into the local Outlook Sent folder.

Default Migrating Zimbra to Outlook

Hello and thank you for the quick reply.

A bit of explanation required if I may. We are using the Zimbra Collaboration Suite 5.0, which is web based. Could you describe how to open the Zimbra Sent folder from within Outlook?

Sir Bob

So, the people using Outlook are still connecting to the Zimbra server, correct? If not, can you explain your setup in a bit more detail?

From your initial description I thought you had an IMAP connection to your Zimbra server using Outlook.

Default Zimbra Outlook Migration

Hello,

I am in the testing phase so I am the only one that is using Outlook at this time.

The connection to the server was configured as POP, but it is now configured as IMAP. Please continue.

Outlook supports multiple accounts, which makes drag 'n drop between accounts easy.

So, you can add an IMAP account to each user's Outlook for the Zimbra server and that will give you the entire Zimbra folder tree in Outlook's left-hand pane.

Click on the Zimbra Sent Items folder, highlight all the email in the message pane, and drag the emails to the desired mail folder on the local Outlook profile.

Hope that helps,
Mark

Just wanted to add that with Outlook 2000 you have to be in "Internet Only" mode in order to add an IMAP server. This never made any sense to me at all, but hey it's M$. I don't have an Outlook 2000 client handy at the moment, but I believe it is under Tools --> Options, and then one of the tabs has a button for "Reconfigure Email" (or something like that).

Post back if you need more help setting up the IMAP account under Outlook.
