Default [SOLVED] How to change the default hostname?

When we first try out Zimbra, we are using test.example.com. We notice that all account with @test.example.com only require login name instead of full email address to login. Does this mean that if we change the hostname from test.example.com to example.com, all existing users with @example.com will only require login name instead of full email address to login?

If this is so, what is the proper steps to change the hostname without the risk of bringing Zimbra down again? Or do we even need to change the hostname to get this convenient for other email domain hosted in Zimbra?

Thanks,
Boon Hong.

you dont need to change zimbra hostname to allow webmail login without the domain name appended to it.
under domains settings you need to go to "virtual hosts" tab and put the webmail link you want to use and that is it.

Thanks! Virtual Hosts is an interesting feature. Unfortunately when I add mail.example.com to example.com domain and login at mail.example.com instead of test.example.com, it still take me to user@test.example.com account instead of user@example.com. Do I need to restart Zimbra for Virtual Hosts to take effect? It states that only removal will need restart right?

Boon Hong.

The feature you are looking for is default domain this is at

Global Setting -> General Info -> Default Domain. Then stop and restart the service.

The Virtual domain is more for multiple domains where you have user1@example1.com and user2@example2.com then you will then need to create virtual host for test.example2.com.
