Zimbra collaboration - good or bad?

Hi. I posted a question last week in order to find out how Zimbra compares with Exchange/OpenXchange but didn't get any replies.

Perhaps I can ask the question another way, because I expect most of you here are fully conversant with Zimbra's end-user functionality.

Question 1: Does Zimbra have 'public' and 'shared' folders?

Question 2: Is there a place where related objects, such as documents, e-mails, calendars can be grouped into a shared place for a project?

I'm no expert, but pretty much anything can easily be shared. You could dedicate a mailbox to be nothing but shares, or your users can set their own permissions, in the following ways:

1. Internal users or groups: To only people they choose (e.g. only those in their workgroup/project) who all have their own accounts on that Zimbra server.

2. External Guests (View Only): They can give outside people a password to access their shares.

3. Public (View Only, No passwowrd required): They can give outside people access to their shares, with no password.


In some environments, its really too much power given to the end user IMO, with not enough administrator control over the shares that they may create.
