Default Importing offline thunderbird folders into Zimbra desktop client

I have searched these forums for sometime now, and can't seem to find the answer. I have found a lot of threads on migrating using the zimbra server and IMAP, but nothing on how to migrate/import mail folders from thunderbird into zimbra desktop client.

I would love to make Zimbra my new email client, but don't want (can't) to lose all of my thunderbird history (and would prefer not to keep thunderbird on my system just for history)

So I have thunderbird installed with several mail folders. How can I transfer/import/migrate the emails in my thunderbird client to my zimbra client.

I was able to import my thunderbird contacts.

Thank you in advance for your assistance,
Brian

As an aisde, I think a simple wizard, available in the zimbra client would go a long way for non-power users to adopt zimbra as their email client program.

As a new user my self...one option is to create an IMAP account in Thunderbird pointing to your zimbra account. There you can migrate your mail.

Once that is done. you can fire up your zimbra desktop or web client and access your old mail. Their are a few threads about this.

I've used the instructions at the URL below to successfully migrate Thunderbird files to Zimbra desktop on Linux. Its a little fiddly and requires having Windows, but it gets you there!
