Default [SOLVED] IMAP issues with mac mail

Well, we are trying to move our system to zimbra, but in order for us to transfer the mail box(es) to zimbra we have to use IMAP, but when I try to connect to the server via IMAP it fails to connect.

Running out of ideas.

Any thoughts?

Is the proxy running? Can you telnet to port 143 and see the IMAP banner?

Yeah, it's all configured to run through that. we even have the SSL set at 993 too.
Just not being able to authenticate.

P.S. - what is the command to telnet in the terminal on a mac? i know what it is on a pc tho....

MacOS is UNIX under the hood, so it should be "telnet"...

yeah, everything connects just fine.

still having issues tho.

odd thing is that it will connect just fine on TLS in thunderbird, but it doesn't move any mail to the server...

Ok, we figured it out.

Apparently when using ldap and imap in one of the versions on zimbra, it was configured to run perdition, which was causing it to fail on authentication. we turned it off and bingo, users we now able to authenticate.
