Default having problem in renaming domain

Dear All,

After reading NE Admin guide, and check another great article
for renaming domain in this forum :
http://www.zimbra.com/forums/migrati...html#post83451

I still have problem to do so..

My steps are as follows :

I made these OS change to new domain name :
/etc/hosts
/etc/sysconfig/network
DNS record

If I don't reboot the server and do a "zmprov -l rd" command,
I would get these error :

[zimbra@zcs91 ~]$ zmprov -l rd example.com test.com
java.net.UnknownHostException: zcs91.example.com: zcs91.example.com
at java.net.InetAddress.getLocalHost(InetAddress.java :1353)
at com.zimbra.common.localconfig.LC.<clinit>(LC.java: 350)
at com.zimbra.common.localconfig.KnownKey.<clinit>(Kn ownKey.java:32)
at com.zimbra.common.localconfig.LocalConfig.expandAl l(LocalConfig.java:327)
at com.zimbra.common.localconfig.LocalConfig.<init>(L ocalConfig.java:177)

at com.zimbra.common.localconfig.Main.main(Main.java: 108)
java.net.UnknownHostException: zcs91.example.com: zcs91.example.com
at java.net.InetAddress.getLocalHost(InetAddress.java :1353)
at com.zimbra.common.localconfig.LC.<clinit>(LC.java: 350)
at com.zimbra.common.util.CliUtil.toolSetup(CliUtil.j ava:33)
at com.zimbra.common.util.CliUtil.toolSetup(CliUtil.j ava:28)
at com.zimbra.common.util.CliUtil.toolSetup(CliUtil.j ava:24)
at com.zimbra.cs.account.ProvUtil.main(ProvUtil.java: 1898)
ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: getDirectContext) (cause: javax.naming.CommunicationException zcs91.example.com:389)

-------

If I reboot the system, as expected, the zimbra server is down,
and no more zmprov command to Zimbra server anymore..

If there's anything I miss here??
any comment will be highly appreciated, Thanks.
Rgds,
Kevin

Default

You're mixing servername & domain name changes.

Do you need to change the hostname as well, or just the @domain.tld part of your email addresses for one domain?

-Undo what you've done
-Make sure zimbra & mail delivery are working
-Make a backup
-Change the hostname via: ZmSetServerName - Zimbra :: Wiki
-Point your currentDomain.com mx record to newHostname.server.com
-Test
-zmprov -l renameDomain currentDomain.com newDomain.com
-newDomain.com's mx record should point to newHostname.server.com
-Test

OR

-Undo what you've done
-Make sure zimbra is working
-zmprov -l renameDomain currentDomain.com newDomain.com
-Test mail delivery (so your mx records for newDomain.com will point at currentHostname.server.com)
-Make a backup
-Change the hostname via: ZmSetServerName - Zimbra :: Wiki
-Change newDomain.com's mx record to point at newHostname.server.com
-Test
