Mentioned Log shows that response for HTTP request was not received. To get exact idea about error, mentioned 1-RPCErrorRequest.xml would be helpful which contains the request for which response error has occurred. Were you able to migrate any data to target server or it occurs at start?

Migration wizard needs to be run from machine which is in same domain. If not, wizard cannot open the message store to retrieve mails and can show same error.

Unhappy

I run the migration wizzard from the server itself!

there is no outlook installed on the server though, is this maybe the problem?

Zimbra is fully operational, I can send emails to and receive emails from both inside and outside the network. I can use an IMAP client too.

but the migration wizzard keeps on giving the same error message. I have the feeling that it can not contact exchange properly.

Pls help me

You need to run this from a machine that has Outlook installed and you can't have Office (or Outlook) installed on an Exchange server so you need to run it from a client PC.

Thumbs up

thanks phoenix (Bill),

I indeed figured out that you need outlook for the migration.

But in contrast to what you are saying I did succeed to install outlook on the exchange server. I do not know if this gives problems with the server but for us this does not matter as the server will be completely formatted after the migration anyway.

Thanks for the support, at least now I have a better picture of how to do the migration and hopefully it helps others too that the answer is now in the thread.

Morten

Glad it's working.

That's a Microsoft restriction, perhaps it should be 'don't' install it on a server rather than 'can't'. I can't remember offhand what the KB article wording is but I seem to remember it can cause problems. Anyway, as long as you have it working - that's all that matters.
