Default Best way to migrate from 4.5.7 on one machine to 5.0.2 on another?

I currently have ZCS 4.5.7 NE on a repurposed desktop running Ubuntu 7.04 (would be using LTS but it does not support our Intel Pro/1000 NIC). I'm going to be moving it to a new machine running on a hardware-identical server (Dell Poweredge SC series versus the Dimension it's on right now, same hardware in a different case) and upgrading to the latest 5.0 release at the same time.

What's the best way to do this? If I can migrate only the user data (e-mail, contacts, calendars) and not any of the server settings that would be preferred. There's some cruft in there that I'd rather not bring over from various experiments with LDAP.

I have seen both of those, I was hoping it was possible to do more of a one-shot thing where I install 5.0.2 on the new box and then just copy over the data or something like that rather than having to either upgrade my current box or install the old version first on the new box.

If I need to bring the old one up to a newer 4.5 release that's fine, but if at all possible I don't want to have 5.0.x on the old machine at all and the same to any 4.5.x version on the new one.

If this can't be done, will I have to upgrade to a later 4.5.x release or can I just upgrade my old box straight to 5.0.2 and then follow the server migration steps from the blog?

There are about 5 different ways to do it.

Trust me when I say that's(the blog) the easiest.
