    Default [SOLVED] Migration from iMail

    I am trying to migrate to the Zimbra Open Source from iMail and trying to use imapsync to do the migration. I can get the imapsync to make a connection to both sides but nothing transfers.
    I have pasted the response below. Thanks for any help

    Ok. I am going to post some more information in hopes that someone will have an idea for me

    I ran across a post on another forum that talked about using telnet to get an idea on the sup and prefix stuff to add to imapsync.

    Code:
    telnet domain 143

    a01 login username password
    a01 OK LOGIN completed

    a02 list "*" ""

    a03 list "" "*"
    Here is what I got back when I did this.

    Code:
    * OK Hello there from domain1
    a01 OK LOGIN completed
    a02list BAD  Invalid Syntax
    a02list BAD Null Commmand
    * LIST (\Noselect) "/" ""
    a02 OK LIST completed
    * LIST (\Unmarked) "/" INBOX
    a03 OK LIST completed
    * BAD Invalid Tag
    Code:
    * OK domain2 Zimbra IMAP4rev1 service ready
    a01l BAD parse error: end of line or wrong character; expected ' '
    102 NO LOGIN failed
    * CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 BINARY CATENATE CHILDREN ESEARCH ID IDLE LITERAL+ LOGIN-R
    EFERRALS NAMESPACE QUOTA SASL-IR UIDPLUS UNSELECT WITHIN X-DRAFT-I04-SEARCHRES
    a01 OK LOGIN completed
    * LIST (\NoSelect) "/" ""
    a02 OK LIST completed
    * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "INBOX"
    * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "Trash"
    * LIST (\HasNoChildren \Noinferiors) "/" "Junk"
    * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "Sent"
    * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "Drafts"
    * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "Contacts"
    * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "Emailed Contacts"
    * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "Chats"
    a03 OK LIST completed
    Thanks

    follwing command wored for me from IMAIL to ZIMBRA sync:
    Please pay special attention to "/tb" flag, --sep1 . --prefix1 INBOX. flag and ommition of "--syncinternaldates"
    this command worked for me FROM windows 2000/imail server which had all Perl modules installed which were needed for IMAPSYNC

    ** below is ONE line **

    perl imapsync.pl --buffersize 8192000 --nosyncacls --subscribe --host1 mail.myimailserver.com --user1 user@myImaildomain.com --password1 xxxxxxxx --host2 mail.myzimbraserver.com --user2 user@myzimbradomain.com/tb --password2 xxxxxxxx --authmech2 LOGIN --sep1 . --prefix1 INBOX.

    Sorry it took me a while to reply back but another project jumped up and I am just now getting back to try this. It worked by the way Thanks Another question on imapsync. Will it automatically keep syncing the two inboxs or do I need to run it every so often to keep the two mailboxes the same? It will be a week or two now before we bring Zimbra online to replace our imail server. Just wondering. Thanks.

    No, imapsync stops working when it exits. You'll have to run it again to pick up any changes.

    You'd have to make it a cron etc to re-run every so often if that's your desired functionality - abit a lot of cpu usage to do so...
    Thus you'll want to run it once more just as your migrating them - to get the mail that has come in during the meantime.

    It's faster when it's only comparing and not transferring, so it should take less time each time you run it, if you do so like once the day before migration, then the day of etc.

    IMAP Sync and "received" date

    explains the /tb
