Default IMAP Migration

Besides imapsync(won't work for us), are there other ways to migrate email from our IMAP server?

Not really an automated method in any way, but a straight folder to folder copy from the old server to the Zimbra server should work. Setup any email client that supports IMAP (Thunderbird, Outlook, etc.) with both accounts then just drag and drop and/or copy and paste from one to the other. My only warning is that if you do use Thunderbird I believe there was an issue at one time with the dates on the messages getting messed up when do a copy like this (i.e. all sent/received dates got changed to the current date). I think there might be a fix for this issue to be found somewhere in the Wiki or forums.

The fix for the Thunderbird problem is to append '/tb' to the Zimbra login information. I suppose the question has to be - why doesn't imapsync work for the transfer?

We do not mbox for imap. we use iplanet which uses a flatfile type db. Any tools that you are aware of for that type of conversion?

thanks

If iPlanet exposes an IMAP interface, it shouldn't matter what file format it's using for its message store. IMAP should give a standardized view on the mailbox.

From what I read imapsync only works with mbox. Is this correct? We have a good amount of users that I would need to transfer from thunderbird to zimbra and the drag and drop method with users who have 1000 folders will be tedious.

No, imapsync works with any server that will accept an IMAP connection - does your server currently allow that type of client connection?
