Default Questions about PST Import

Is it possible to get a complete list of Registry key's that can be changed to impact the PST Import wizard? I looked and didn't see a document with this info. I know about the Attachment size, and Error failure changes already. Also, does anyone know why an import would get most messages but miss messages prior to 2002? I had an import that didn't get these messages...

Hi,

All the registry keys that migrators and importers use are listed in bug 17629 (Bug 17629 - registry key details in the release notes and docs).

Are you using date filter? Please post the log of import that misses messages prior to 2002.

Regards,
Manish

Here is the log: Link Also, I don't think I'm using a date filter, I'm using the import.xml, and i don't know where the option for that is. Here are the options I'm using in my import.xml:

<importDeletedItems>0</importDeletedItems>
<importJunk>0</importJunk>
<importPrivateAppts>1</importPrivateAppts>
<importPartialMalis>1</importPartialMalis>
<ignorePreviouslyImported>1</ignorePreviouslyImported>
<InvalidSSLOk>1</InvalidSSLOk>
<IgnoreCoreDump>1</IgnoreCoreDump>

As an update. I did find the section in the XML that refers to importing messages prior to a certain date. Currently I do not have that option in the XML, which means it should import everything. I tried chaging the date to 01/01/1980 and it still missed over 51 messages prior to 4/5/2002 in at least 1 folder. I can reproduce this multiple times if need be..

You mean the GUI of the Import wizard? I AM using the PST import wizard, but using the Import.XML unattended meathod. What options do you want me to check when I run it?

I attempted using the GUI interface with no date used for importing messages prior to Date XXXXX. It still did not import messages prior to 4/5/2002 in at least 1 folder. Attached is the PST Import log.

Hi,

The log file says that messages prior to 4/5/2002 have been migrated.

Code:
01-08-2007 08:56:30 [748]: (MI): Batch Adding Message d(Tue, 1 Jan 2002 13:33:31 -0000) fid(268)
01-08-2007 08:56:30 [748]: (MI): Batch Added Message rid(42)
01-08-2007 08:56:30 [748]: (MI): Batch Adding Message d(Tue, 1 Jan 2002 13:41:56 -0000) fid(268)
01-08-2007 08:56:30 [748]: (MI): Batch Added Message rid(43)
Some messages were not able to get migrated and Core Dump has been logged against them.

Code:
01-08-2007 08:56:37 [748]: Exception Address: 0x459c04
01-08-2007 08:56:39 [748]: CORE: Generated core dump: C:\DOCUME~1\omadm\LOCALS~1\Temp\ZCSPSTImportWizard-4.5.6_GA_1023\ZimbraCore_08012007_085637.dmp
01-08-2007 08:56:40 [748]: Unable to process message d(Wed, 29 May 2002 18:11:33 -0000) Folder Name - NSRA request
01-08-2007 08:56:40 [748]: (MI): The MAPI message was logged to C:\DOCUME~1\omadm\LOCALS~1\Temp\ZCSPSTImportWizard-4.5.6_GA_1023\00000000bfa1027f84bb3e47b4bd79cd37960df024862000.msg
Can you attach one of the messages like below logged by importer in temp directory?

Code:
C:\DOCUME~1\omadm\LOCALS~1\Temp\ZCSPSTImportWizard-4.5.6_GA_1023\00000000bfa1027f84bb3e47b4bd79cd37960df024862000.msg

I will add a .MSG that did not get imported, and that is 1 issue... Why did 25 messages fail. My bigger question still remains... Why did 51 messages in 1 folder ALONE not get imported. Along with that, why does it only show 25 warnings if 51 messages in 1 folder alone (dated prior to 4/5/2002) did not get imported? And I DO know of at least 1 more folder where messages prior to 2002 did not get imported, but I'm just focusing on 1 folder right now so we can get some idea why. That is what I don't understand... It failing and reporting it is one thing, but not reporting it at all is another. That makes it almost impossible to troubleshoot.

Also, just as a side not, it's really hard to open dumps that are between 76 and 200 MB in size. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot a failure report would be greatly appreciated!

You will need to rename the attachment from .TXT to .MSG, since I had to rename it to post it.
