I have a user that gets through part of the sync, then it comes up with errors, and none of the updates seem to be there. He is also complaining of contacts not syncing. I looked at the Bugzilla item you mentioned above and it doesn't seem relevant. Is it supposed to be "Bugzilla bug 24698"? Also, can I send you their log directly?
