Default Communigate

I'm in the early stages of evaluating Zimbra to replace Communigate Pro (2,000 accounts). Our growing Mac contingency is demanding a better solution to handle shared calendars, meeting scheduling, etc.

The CGP mail server has been running on an Xserve for years with no performance or hardware/software problems. From a hardware administration standpoint, we are most comfortable in an OSX (workstation or server) environment, and would like to keep it that way.

Questions:

1) Will ZCS Open Source Edition run well in an OSX environment?

2) I think I read that attachments aren't indexed/searchable if the server is running on an OSX machine. Is that true?

I think I found the answer to my second question:
http://www.zimbra.com/products/product_editions.html

Is the ability to search attachments (Mac installation) on the horizon for the Network Professional Edition?
