Don't feel limited to two boxes
You can have many LDAP replicas, MTAs, and Mailstores for capacity & redundancy.
How big are you looking to go for both deployments (#users) ?
Of note RAID 5 is not recommended for more than 100 users.

i'm planning to start small, and just give my clients the option to switch over their mail. then if all gooes well, could be a couple hundred accounts
btw, can zimbra integrate with hsphere, if anyone has done that? right now, what I do with scalix is just have the emails forward from the main hsphere box to the scalix box, which is not the ideal solution, but scalix can't integrate with hsphere (which is another reason i just use scalix for internal emails and not for the clients)
if zimbra can integrate well, or at least a chance to replace the main MTA, then i guess it will be a lot easier![]()
cool, you'll eventually need a multi-server setup of course
just 'foward' H-Sphere's mail (essentially Qmail SMTP) to Zimbra's MTA, but no I don't know of anyone intergrating it/managing it through H-Sphere via an add-on. I would discuss that here: H-Sphere Packages - The Open Source Comminity For H-Sphere Add-ons

tried installing, getting into problems.....i'm running centos 4.5...when i run install.sh my system halts in the middle and a kernel panic shows up and i would need to reboot.....
...any ideas why the installer bring my system to freeze?
btw, my mind is made and will migrate my mailserver to zimbra i just need to get it to install lol...
there is no official Centos port -not saying it can't be done though
for instance pheonex uses centos5 and countless other people use 4.5

but centos 4 = RHE 4, so shouldn't it work off the bat? I am using the RH4 build of zimbra.
not 'exactly' to quote centos.org:
but yes people here use centos all the time (hopefully they'll chime in with comments)CentOS is an Enterprise-class Linux Distribution derived from sources freely provided to the public by a prominent North American Enterprise Linux vendor.

true lol....i'm already planning on proposing here at work about implementing zimbra NE
btw, with the NE, can it be mixed with free accounts? like not all accounts need to have outlook connectivity, so can some just have regular (Opensource type) account? Or if we go NE we have to purchase for each account and each has the same type (NE)?
thanks![]()
