Default Installation beside a legacy email server

We currently have a qmail POP3/IMAP/SMTP email server serving all our employees which we are happy with. We would like to add webmail feature to a few users.
  1. Is Zimbra a good choice?
  2. Would it work with the email server residing on another server or does it need to be on the same server?
  3. Would we need to move to Postfix?
  4. And how do the user licenses work in such a setup?

TIA

Pascal

[*]Is Zimbra a good choice?
Yes, it's an excellent choice but I would say that.

It would work with your current mail server but not on the same machine. Have a look in the wiki for 'Split Domain'.

Postfix is the MTA used in Zimbra. You'd need to expand what you'd want to do with Zimbra. Zimbra is a complete package and contains it's own MTA (Postfix) so if you're currently a single mail server set-up then my advice would be to move completely to Zimbra - you can't add the webmail to your current configuration.

That depends on whether you want the Network Edition with it's extra features or the (free) Open Source version. Details of features and pricing.
