Default XFS-filesysten vs Ext3 for index, cache and emails?

    Hello,

in many emailserver-forums there are posts about the advantage of
storing emails, cache and index on a XFS-filesystem.

Does Zimbra.com recommend as well to take XFS for emails, cache
    and index?

    Thank's!

    John

We recommend ext3 as the file system for Zimbra. Check this wiki article.

    Hi,

I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to reflect that the tunning guide now says that the recomended FS is either ext3 or ext4. Good to see how this guide is keeping up to date with references to version 8.0.5

Just out of curiosity, RHEL is now releasing its version 7 (beta) where the default FS is going to be xfs.

Although I know it is not the "recommended" FS to use for Zimbra, does anyone knows if it is supported?

    Thanks!
    Sebas

It's just a file system and you can run ZCS on anything you like, backup and recovery of those file systems is the responsibility of the Admin. There is no 'supported' file system just reference to the most commonly shipped one with the current operating systems. I've used XFS on my systems for years without problems.
