Unhappy A network service error has occurred (zclient/io)

I am getting this error when I attempt to login using the basic client. I have just upgraded from 3.1.3 (by way of 4.0.5) and am currently running:

Release 4.5.5_GA_838.RHEL4_20070518071230 CentOS4 NETWORK edition

I have no other issues and, as far as I can tell, no errors in the log associated to this.

What exactly is the error message you see when you expand the error pop-up. Have you got any network problems? Which operating system and browser is the client running on? Have you searche the forums & bugzilla for similar problems?

I'm sure you now this but Zimbra NE isn't supported on CentOS4.

It is not a pop-up. It displays directly above the username and password, the same type of notice you get when you use an incorrect username or password. There is no more information. There are no network problems, I have tried from the same subnet server is on, I have tried on numerous OS and browser combinations. I've searched but found nothing with a solution.

Does it always happen? Have you tried clearing your browser cache and then tried again? Are you saying this happens when you login, if not where/when?

I go to the login page and click the link at the bottom to go to the basic client (You are using the advanced client. Click here to switch to the basic client.) I then enter login credentials and click Log In. The error displays above the username and password, same spot it would display "The username or password is incorrect" message. It happens everytime, I have tried from a MAC using Firefox and Safari and from a windows box using IE.

Do you also have any pop-up/ad blockers or mouse gestures that would cause any problems?

I have cleared the browser cache and it still does not work. I have also tried on machines that have never accessed the zimbra server before.

I don't believe so. I am able to use the basic client on a different server from all these browsers so I don't believe it is a client issue.

If there is a server-side issue, the it will likely be logged in /opt/zimbra/log/mailbox.log

Can you take a look at that log to see if there's anything in there?
