Lost access to admin console??

Perdition is an IMAP/POP3 Proxy. If you don't know how to use it, and enable it, it will cause tomcat to stop working.

Try this:

su - zimbra
zmperditionctl stop
tomcat stop
tomcat start
zmcontrol status

JHOLDER ... at least something happend. I am able to connecto to my mailbox using http://myserver.mydomain.com but not zimbraAdmin on https://myserver.mydomain.com:7071/zimbraAdmin.

Here is status of zmcontrol as of now.

# zmcontrol status

imapproxy Stopped
imap4 is not running
imap4s is not running
pop3 is not running
pop3s is not running
ldap Running
logger Running

Follow mmorse's instructions on disabling the proxy service, and restart Zimbra.
We'll go from there.

To disable Perdition:

Stop the service
zmperditionctl stop
Disable the proxy service
zmprov -- -zimbraServiceEnabled imapproxy

Unset the proxy ports
zmprov ms server.example.com zimbraPop3ProxyBindPort "" zimbraImapProxyBindPort "" zimbraPop3SSLProxyBindPort "" zimbraImapSSLProxyBindPort ""

Set the real ports
zmprov ms server.example.com zimbraPop3BindPort 110 zimbraImapBindPort 143 zimbraPop3SSLBindPort 995 zimbraImapSSLBindPort 993

Restart Tomcat
tomcat stop
tomcat start

Kinda having problem after second command

zmprov -- -zimbraServiceEnabled imapproxy

Well ... nothing special other than that I am not huge fan of reinstalling. Must be smarter way to fix the problem. This is first time I am using software and I am evaluating it for future. Also it helps me understand this system better. I am a little bit concerned that enabling proxy, which supposed to be regular service, renders system unusable?? I would expect if you do something wrong to have system not performing but not unavailable for admin. That kinda scares me. I am wondering now what else I cannot touch on this system?

Other than that I like look and feel. I like the price too :-)!!

Once we fix the problem, it might help somebody else as well.

There have been other examples of people doing a reinstallation (not necessary to remove data) and their issues being resolved... of course I don't remember all the scenarios, but I would say give it a try.

I read a lot of forum posts, I don't remember what all the issues were that were resolved by reinstalling.

Well ... sorry guys but reinstalling Zimbra didn't fix the problem. Tomcat still doesn't want to start.
I lost webmail access as well.

Hmm... anything going on in /opt/zimbra/logs/mailbox.log that might be helpful?

Yes ... I got sick last week so wasn't able to finish. Anyway I did uninstall today and it looks ok other that for first time I got an unusuall ajax popup error. Unfortunatelly I was not able to catch it, but next time I'll put it on paper.

So far so good.

Should I post it back to my tread just let everybody know how it ended?
