Default CentOS 5 64 bit install

Anyone know where I can look to troubleshoot this:
-----
Installing packages

zimbra-core......zimbra-core-4.5.5_GA_838.RHEL4_64-20070518070829.x86_64.rpm...FAILED
###ERROR###

zimbra-core-4.5.5_GA_838.RHEL4_64-20070518070829.x86_64.rpm installation failed

Installation cancelled
------

The error is not very intuitive. I am trying to install the latest version of zimbra NE onto a centos 5 64 bit machine.

Thanks

Well, the reason it's failing is because you're attempting to install a RHEL4 x64 Package on CentOS 5 x64.

I sincerly hope you will heed my advice to wait for an official RHEL5 x64 package.

CentOS of any flavour is not a supported platform the the Network Edition of Zimbra. It's useful as a test platform only but Zimbra do not provide you with support if you use that platform.

I understand that, but was hoping someone would have some insight as to why its not working other than "it's the wrong version". There is an install guide to setting up the 32 bit rhel4 version of zimbra on centos 5 so I figured I'd try to install the x64 version. I guess I'll just reinstall centos 4.5 and run that. Before I go through all that trouble, is there an install log or something like that I can look at to see if I can figure out the problem?

You should look in the /tmp/install.log.xxxx - where xxxx is the number that was shown on the terminal when you tried to install. Really, you should wait for the RHEL5 64bit version to be released - trying the install now is likely to fail and be a waste of your time.

I figured it out by following the instructions from the thread below. As soon as I changed /etc/redhat-release to "Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 4)" it installed fine.

INSTALLATION PROBLEM ON Centos 4.3 x_86-64Bit.

Default Fix Installation for Zimbra 4.5.5 on CentOS 5

I had same problem with Centos 5 x86_64 and ZCS 4.5.5. The /etc/redhat-release hack was not very sympatic to me so looked to fix the problem.

The following is from my memory. so not sure that it is 100% correct and complete!!

In zcs-4.5.5_GA_838.RHEL4_64.tgz there is a typo in get_plat_tag.sh (Line 69). Think its the same in the NE Edition
A "$" is missing. it must be added on 2 places:

1. while unpacking the installation tgz it must be fixed in in bin/get_plat_tag.sh 2. inside the rpm in libexec\get_plat_tag.sh

after that the zimbra core rpm must be repacked and the installer in utils\utilfunc.sh (Line 1244) must be changed to ignore signature (--nosignature)

Hope Zimbra will fix this one character typo in the next release! this would prevent much hassle when installing on CentOS 5!

It can't be fixed unless we're told about it, did you file it in bugzilla (that's the correct place for it)?
