IMAP Enable - Now Tomcat won't startup

I messed something up. I had been running 4.5 community on Ubuntu 6 for several weeks. I decided that I wanted to connect a MAPI client so I went to the web admin page and enabled the MAPI support. The page indicated that I needed to restart Zimbra to complete the operation. After restarting it appears that tomcat will no longer startup. If I type zmcontrol status I get:

mailbox stopped
tomcat is not running

tomcat start does not make any difference. I have the server setup to use the http to https redirect.

I'm not sure where to go from here. I've been searching for the command line control to disable MAPI (to see if that gets me back) but so I far I haven't had any luck. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Jon, and welcome to the forums!
You probably started the IMAP proxy, and not the IMAP service. They're two seperate things.
If you don't know what the IMAP Proxy does, here's a good link:

To solve this, stop perdition, and start tomcat. Then login to the Zimbra Admin Console, and disable IMAP proxy:

su - zimbra
zmperditionctl stop
tomcat start

Thanks for the super-fast response.

I issued a zmperditionctl stop which stopped the imap and pop services.
Then I issued a tomcat start (no feedback from that command)
I then tried to login to the admin console with no response.

A check using zmcontrol status shows that tomcat is still not running.

Is there a tomcat error log around somewhere that I can check out?

Ok, I got it working. I rebooted and went through all the steps again. For some reason tomcat would not startup unless I first issued a "tomcat stop" before the "tomcat start" even though zmconfig indicated that tomcat wasn't running.

I had installed as a test a few weeks ago and had absolutely not realized how much my family and I were relying on it until I broke it.

Great work, and simply amazing that you would respond to a question on the community version so quickly.
