Unhappy startup issues after installation

Hi,
I am having a few problems starting up zimbra after what seemed to be a successful installation.

[zimbra@giant bin]$ uname -a
Linux giant 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5 #1 Tue Mar 14 15:48:33 EST 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
[zimbra@giant bin]$ ./zmcontrol -v
Release 4.5.5_GA_838.FC5_20070503175107 FC5 FOSS edition

1) only the zimbra user seems to have this problem:

giant# su - zimbra
-bash: no job control in this shell

I fixed it with set -m, but that is still quite odd that only the zimbra user is having this issue. Has anyone seen this symptom before?

2) Here is the output from zmcontrol start

Starting ldap...Done.
Starting logger...Done.
Starting mailbox...FAILED
Error: assertion '-r /opt/zimbra/conf/my.cnf' failed

Starting antispam...Done.
Starting antivirus...Done.

postalias: fatal: file /opt/zimbra/postfix-2.2.9/conf/main.cf: parameter mail_owner: unknown user name value: postfix

3) There are several errors in the tomcat log file:
(not sure if these are a big deal or not, but tomcat does not startup)

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Document base /opt/zimbra/apache-tomcat-5.5.15/server/webapps/host-manager does not exist or is not a readable directory
...
...
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Document base /opt/zimbra/apache-tomcat-5.5.15/server/webapps/manager does not exist or is not a readable directory
...
...

Any ideas?

hmn
Can we get the installer log?
If not, then uninstall zimbra by:
./install.sh -u

Then reinstall and post the log.

Thanks, and Welcome to the Zimbra Forums Scott!

This information can be found on the quick start guide. The link is below in my sig.
