Default samba password sync

After a week of testing I plan on doing my first zimbra install in the moring.
I'll be replacing dovecott / sendmail on redhat es4 with zimbra on centos or redhat es4..

The site hase some samba shares... ex. windows h:\ mapped to /home/username
n:\ mapped to /net/blah blah and so on.

currently I user standard linux accounts with several typical secutity levels.

ap, ar, pr, finance, warehouse and so on....
can I create /modify posix/samba usergroups within zimbra?
I see that there is a project to auth throughldap.. I'm not to savy on ldap so it may be a bit more involved than I want to get for a first time Zimbra setup...
currently the office uses a workgroup with "standalone servers" type setup.
are these any tools to centralize password other that ldap?
thanks timg

I think that implementing this set-up: http://wiki.zimbra.com/index.php?tit...imbra_Admin_UI
is the easiest way to share posix/samba user passwords with Zimbra and to manage posix/samba groups within Zimbra.
If you absolutely hate LDAP and really-really want to have passwords outside of LDAP, you will have to write scripts that will either update user passwords in Zimbra LDAP every time a posix/samba password is changed or the other way around.
