Lightbulb Build Zimbra Source Files

Hello,

I would really like to build the source files from scratch.

Is there any documentation to correctly achieve this?

If so where please?

Is it possible to build the source packages for any platform?

Also, if i build zimbra from the source files, will i get the same functionality as the network edition - i.e. instant messaging?

thanks

Costa

You get the source from SVN, search the forums for details. Instant messaging isn't just a NE feature and no, you don't get the NE version by building from source.

Lightbulb Great news

Thats good, I am sure there is instructions available - but i cannot find them!

I was asking for help to the location of the Zimbra source build documents.

If I can get messaging to work with the OE edition - how is this possible and is there documentation to help me to do this please?

If so where exactly are these instructions?

thanks again

Costa

The instructions for building are on SVN itself, there are also some threads about building from source. The IM feature is not worth using in the current versions of Zimbra and is only beta status, it will be updated in a later release. Again, search the forums for details on how to enable it if you really want to try it.

Have you actually searched the forums? If you search for SVN you'll get a ton of hits, there are details of building Zimbra in there and pointers to the instructions. One of the hits has this as a link.

Exclamation build_cvs instructions

okay so am following the instructions in the build_cvs_howto.txt

it says "get net-snmp-5.1.2.tar.gz"

without letting loose too much - how and where do you propose I get this from please?

does it matter which version I use?

thanks

Talking here ya go

In response to myself (in a friendly way) you may find the file you need here at ftp://ftp.freesnmp.com/mirrors/net-s...p-5.1.2.tar.gz

You'll need to get all the third-party packages from their respective download sites.
